A little life (wooow)

"Oh.... That's where my sister goes for check ups while she's here." He said "Isn't that good Katey, I know where the hospital is. Don't cry okay?... Cancer?" Katey nodded, and sniffled, she rubbed her eyes on her sleeve. "Okay! I'll go get my things!" She said jumping from his arms and running inside. He looked up. "Hey don't- Oh... This is my apartment building." He blinked he hadn't realized that they had been coming twords it. Usually they came in through the back entrance, because he found it was a faster way to get to the house.

The landlord smiled, "Yeah, I haven't seen you since I gave you the keys to the apartment." He laughed, "Anyway, I need to make a few phone calls about Kay, and then I need to drive down...I really hope she's okay." He looked solemn as he entered the building.

"Okay.... I should go make sure my sister isn't getting herself into trouble... It was nice seeing you again." He said, and headed for the apartments.

Balloons and flowers filled Kay's hospital room, lots of teddy bears and gifts from people she worked with and family surrounded her. She opened her eyes after being asleep for nearly a day. She couldn't remember what happened but it wasn't good. She could remember that she was dumped the day before and that some stranger got in her face for being nice. She furrowed her brows and groaned in frustration.

Oh yeah...I fainted after... She began to think but couldn't keep going. She was exhausted.

Katey was looking at her brother.
"Can we visit now?"
"No. Not until somone tells us we can."
"Can we visit now?"
"Not yet Katey."
This had been going on for at least an hour.
"How about now?"
"No."
"Now?!"
"No."
He sighed.
"She's going to think we're crazy, coming to see her when we don't even actually know each other."
"Now?"
"No."

"You came to visit Kay DeRoux?" A nurse asked, "They are allowing visitors now, she's in room 213. down the hall."

"YAY!" Said Katey who hated to wait.
"Shh...." Her brother frowned at her. "Thanks." He said to the nurse. "Come on Katey."
He stood up and took her hand.

The nurse opened the door for them and walked away.

Kay was hooked up to wires monitoring her heart. She looked so young and fragile laying there in that big bed. It was almost sad to see it, like she didn't belong in that place.

"Miss. Kay person! Are you okay?!" Asked Katey in a quiet exclamation.
Arron shook his head at the child, with a sigh. He had tried so hard to get her to say Miss. DeRoux, especially sense they didn't really know this girl.
"You feignted on the ground! And it was sad! I cried, and thought you were dead, and Mr. Land man person said that you had cancer, only you were little then. And and I was afraid you would die again even after brother said you didn't die-"
"Katey.... Calm down." Said Arron softly.
"Sorry..." Said Katey looking at her feet.

Kay could only laugh lightly at the little girl, "It's okay, I get it a lot when I work at the orphanage." She explained softly. Sitting up she let her head fall back on the pillow, she hadn't felt this tired in years.

"Yeah, I had cancer when I was little, it comes and goes but I haven't died of it obviously. I'm Kay, as I guess you already know."

"Yeah! I know that!" Said Katey, "Your brother told me! He's nice I like him!"
"Her cozen Katey."
"Oh yeah cozen! I"m glad your alive!" She said walking closer to the bed. "Oh! I'm Katey. That's my brother Arron, I'm only here cause I missed him so much. Usually I live far away in the mountains cause it's good for me. My mom and dad miss me too though. So I have to go back in a while."

"It's nice to meet you Katey," She said softly and then her tone changed slightly, "and Arron..." She obviously wasn't very happy with him still because she recognized him right away. She sighed weakly and picked up a small bear that was sitting next to her.

Arron looked at his sister, and moved around the side of the door. So he could still hear her if she needed him, but wasn't bothering Kay.
"Nice to meet you more too." Said Katey smiling at her. "I have a bear too! And a cat! But the cat is real, and it's at the mountains.... Arron has a cat! She's black; she likes to hide from me."

"I used to have a cat..." Kay said lifting a hand as she began to describe it, "He was white and fluffy and we called him Einstein."

"My cat is white! He's fluffy too! He's fat though, we named him Marshmallow." She smiled at her. "What happened To Einstein?"
