Unemployed Ninja

"I'm going to...rest and..." Before I could finish even speaking I fell asleep.

I sighed with relief. He was acting really weird and... so was I. I had always thought about killing him, but faced with the circumstances of his death... I very nearly couldn't handle it. What had gotten into me? I sat beside him, and decided to watch him through the night to make sure he would be okay.

I still felt sore the next morning but I got up and got ready to go home. At least I'd managed to get the information I was looking for.

"Hiroshi!" I exclaimed as he struggled to get packed. I had been pleading with him to stay until his wounds were healed but he ignored me for the most part. "At least let me do the packing! You shouldn't be bending over like that! You'll start bleeding again..." And you might not come back this time. I looked at him sadly. Why wouldn't he just stay?

"It's not safe here right now. Someone knows who I am and that could easily put you in danger, especially if they believe that you are my wife." The last thing I wanted to do was put her in danger.

"I-I'll be fine, Hiroshi-Sama. It's you I'm worried about anyway! I can protect us both if I need to..." I took the packing things away from him, and did it for him. He wouldn't tears those wounds on my watch! No way!

"Okay." I sat down and looked at the floor, "Do you believe me when I say I'm sorry?" I asked her out of curiosity.

I glanced at him. "Of course I do! Why wouldn't I?" I continued to pack his clothes and other things. The bloody ones I put in my bag... I didn't want them to stain his other clothes.

"Because I've been so cruel. I wouldn't apologize and then just turn around and kick you again." I sighed and started to favor my chest, it was pretty painful but I hated to show it hurt.

"I know..." But did I really? I saw him favoring his chest, and gasped. I had forgotten to clean his wounds after he woke up! "I need to clean your wounds, lets go to the washroom, and I'll grab my other tunic to use as bandages." I stated softly, trying not to be so arrogant as I have been known to be at times.

"N-No, I have something in my pack, we'll use that." I began to get an old tunic ready and gave it to her to use. I was completely ready for her to work and willingly lowered to the top part of my clothing so she could see the wounds.

"But... but Hiroshi-Sama! It'll get all torn up and bad! Why do you want to use this tunic? I'm perfectly fine with using my own!" I didn't want to have to use ruin his tunic.

"It has a hole in the back..." I pointed out, "Go ahead."

I turned red. I hadn't noticed that and I had made a small speech on not using it. Oh well... I hit him lightly on the head with it. Like I hit him with all the force a feather could muster. "Fine. I'll use your holy tunic!" I exclaimed, beginning to rip it it pieces long enough for a bandage.

I laughed, she missed my cut so that was nice to know.

"Do they look bad?" I asked, wincing slightly at even moving my arm, it was hard because the gash was slightly deep.

"They're only bad if they're bleeding!" I exclaimed with a smile, wagging my finger at him. I then began the task of cleaning the wounds. I tried to be as gentle as possible, only using enough pressure to rub the blood off... which didn't take much. "Tell me if I'm hurting you... Hiroshi-Sama."

"It's fine." I smiled again. The tugging feeling at my heart came and I knew, somehow, that it was a good feeling. But part of me wanted to shrug it off.

I smiled back without thinking. After about ten minutes, I finally got him all cleaned up. "There! Not I can wrap you up like a mummy!" I exclaimed, beginning at his chest.

"Meh, that's okay." I felt a little better, not so easy at getting angry.

I smiled again. I finished not too much later with a smile. "Now that's a bandage job I ccan be proud of!" I exclaimed happily. "I'm finished!"

"Thanks. I guess we should get ready to go. I feel sort of worried about being here now." I said, my face serious.

I nodded. "To be honest, I'm glad we're leaving." I replied, getting to my feet. Once I did, I offered my hand to help him up. "I don't like big cities."

"Yeah, me neither. Apparently the king here has something against us too so it's good we're leaving." After we finished packing we inconspicuously made our way out of the city.

And I like your real name better, anyway. I though briefly to myself. Once we were out of the city, I sighed with relief. Like I have mentioned many times before, I love the outdoors. "Hiroshi? Which do you prefer... Indoors, or Outdoors?"

"I'm content with either. When you're a shinobi you cannot be picky." I smiled at her again. Why was I so smiley?
