Unemployed Ninja

"She's beautiful, you two must be very close!"

I smiled, "Yes, she's my world." I took her by the arm gently and pulled her close to me with the most convincing smile on my face.

I forced a blush, and giggled so sweetly. As far as anyone there knew, I was head-over-heels for him. Man I can't wait to act sane again. I hope we don't stay here too long.

"You're room is down the hall."

"Thank you." I bowed a slight before taking Aja towards the room we were staying in.

I kept a serene smile on my face as I walked with him. As soon as we walked in the room, my heart sank. I had forgotten until then that I had to sleep next him. I turned red. It's not that he wasn't handsome or anything... or even that I expected him to advance on me. It was just... awkward. "Oh what a lovely room!" I exclaimed in a happy voice before the door was shut. Oh what a horrid room.

I laid down the futons and sighed as I sat down, I was tired from the trip just a slight.

"Hey, try to at least make yourself at home."

I sighed and sat down my pack close to the door before sitting on my futon. "How long do you think it will take?" I whispered softly. I knew he could hear me. Whether he would answer me was a totally different matter. When I heard someone walk by the room I exclaimed happily, "OH! I love you too, Hiroshi!!" I then sighed.

I felt like she was suffocating me! Oh dang it!

"Maybe a couple weeks. It depends on how much information I get here." I explained, always explaining. I was tired.

I nodded. I got up and grabbed my sleep things from my bag before walking into the washroom. I sighed and began to clean myself up again. It was nice having somewhere to get away from the guy! I swear, if I didn't have anywhere to get away from him, he would be dead by now!

I didn't really mean to be serious on her, it was just be that way or end up getting killed. I was here mainly to find out why my father was killed.

I finally emerged from the washroom in a tunic -the one I didn't ruin- and pants. I folded the kimono, and laid it by my pack. My hair was soaked. I tried really hard to dry it, but it's so thick that it simply soaked the towel, doing nothing for my hair. It was also sticking all over the place.

"Well I guess it's a good thing I got you a wig then?" I laughed, trying not to poke fun at her or anything.

I smirked. "Ha. Ha. Very funny." I replied, cutting my eyes at him. He was kinda cute when he laughed... No, Aja! No! No! No!!! Not him! He's not all that interesting! I almost began banging my head against the wall. I got a book from my bag, and sat against the wall. It was a good book, and I planned on finishing it while I was here.

"Hey, you okay?" I asked, hoping that she wasn't sick or anything.

"Sick?" I replied, looking at him in confusion. "I'm not sick... I'm just reading my book..." I didn't understand what he was rambling on about.

"I never said you were sick, I asked if you were okay." I said, why was she so dismissive?!

"What are you talking about??? It's just a book!" I replied, thoroughly confused.

"I just meant...UGH! I really hate you!" Then I flopped back on the futon and went to sleep, I didn't even care what I said, it wasn't loud in any way. Ugh, that girl...

His words... why did they hurt? I looked in his direction to see him sleeping. I sighed, and tried not to cry. He really didn't have to be so mean. I tried to read my book again, hoping it would sheer me up. But I couldn't focus on it, so I sat there until I got tired, then went to the futons, and lay down on my side, as far away from him as possible. I soon fell asleep.

When I woke up I noticed somehow that I had my arms around Aja. I was a bit unnerved but carefully pulled away and put my gear on before leaving to start the day. I should have told her I was going but I didn't have to.

I awoke not too long after to find him gone. I sighed, and straightened the futons before getting dressed. What was I going to do? Look at the local shops? I almost left the room without my wig too! I quickly put it on, straightening it before sliding the door open.

"Have you heard?" I was listening in on several conversations.

"What?"

"There was a ninja a few days ago here, apparently he was killed!"

The man seemed intrigued by this, "How did it happen?"

"I heard it was an assassin of sorts. Maybe poison or stab?"

Poison?

I strolled out of the inn, and into the market place. It was so busy with people. I was so amazed that I stood on the porch of the inn for about five minutes before getting up the courage to walk into the street. There were small booths and shops everywhere! It was amazing! I was drawn in by one of the salesmen with his beautiful necklaces. They glimmered in the sunlight, and made beautiful sparkling necklaces.

I was walking back towards the inn when I saw Aja close by. I walked over to her and wrapped my arm around her should, "My love. Have you find something that appeals to your eye?" I asked.

I nearly jumped out of my skin. "Oh! There you are!" I exclaimed with a bright smile. "Yes, this man was just telling me all about how this is supposed to be PURE diamond!" I replied excitedly before dropping my voice low and glaring at the salesman. "I'm not at stupid as I look. It's just crystal. Hardly worth the price."

"If you wanted something you should have come to me. I can only give you the finest." I replied, rubbing her arm as I looked at her in the eyes, with love that wasn't even close to real.
