Unemployed Ninja

"Y-Yes." I went around and began to untie the ropes. She had some nasty marks on her wrists from them. Ugh, why did these tears burn so badly? I managed to untie them completely before moving back in front of her, it took me a long while to realize how bad my headache was, I missed so much. How hard did they hit me?

I rubbed my wrists a bit before examining her head. "Oh wow! That is a pretty nasty wound! He must have hit you hard." I stated solemnly. "But thankfully the bleeding stopped... I wouldn't be surprised if you happen to have a headache."

"And I do...ugh...Ijin is going to kill me when we get out of here. I feel like I really failed in protecting you." I slumped on the floor, tears stinging at my eyes. How could this happen?

"Oh, sweetheart!" I found that after becoming pregnant, I called almost everyone sweetheart, sweetie, and almost any other variation of that word. "It is not your fault! There were two of them! Even if you were able to take down one, if the other had me, what would you be able to do? You were carried the entire way, without rest, on the man's shoulder for crying out loud!" I wiped her tears away, and made her look me in the eye. "It is not your fault. We ARE going to get through this together, okay?"

I began to sob, I'd been out cold the whole time she was suffering and screaming. Had I had it so easy?

"I can't even remember what happened...I don't even know what hit me." I whimpered, "I'll take care of you, if you get sick I'll help and if anything...I just want to be a good sister."

"You always have been a good sister, Kagome!" I replied, trying to give her a reassuring hug. "And as for what hit you, I don't know either. I'm glad I don't know too because they may have had to have been rougher on me had I actually seen them hit you. I'm not too fat for my skin yet! I can still punch!" I joked, trying to lighten her mood a little. "Smile some! If we don't look on the bright side, we will lose our will to escape."

I forced a smile to my face, with my chin quivering under my lip.

"Okay...I'll try." I felt more relaxed after that. Who knew what was going to happen here or how long we'd be here anyway.

I smiled at her when suddenly, a man came busting into the room, walking briskly over to me. "WHERE IS YOUR HUSBAND?!" He declared 'mightily'. I guess he was trying to scare me. So I acted the part. No one needed to know I had been trained as a Kunoichi.... even though I had yet to be one. I let my lower lip quiver a bit, and I sank back some, hunching over a bit. I looked only at his feet, which I glanced at nervously. "I-I don't know. He doesn't t-t-tell me these things."

I saw the man's expression turn furious, "And why not? What kind of man keeps secrets from his wife?!"

I cowered from his voice. I must have been convincing him, because he seemed to start acting way superior. "I-I don't know! It's not my place to know..." I thought of Ijin's face when he woke me, bleeding terribly, and I awoke those emotions. I was able to start sobbing from that. "It's not my place!"

"SHE DOESN'T KNOW!" I barked before he could speak again. In return he hit my across the face and knocked me to the floor, I felt pain intensifying in my head, this wasn't going to help.

"I'll come back and then you'll talk!" He left slamming the door behind him.

I scrambled to Kagome, looking like a bear pregnant with twelve young as I wiggled across the floor. "Kagome, are you okay?!"

"I'm fine..." I gritted my teeth against the anger that was being held back. As much as I wanted to scream about it I forced it back. Instead, I made it a part of my job to sleep. If I didn't then I wouldn't be any use to Aja.

I went to sleep shortly after. I dreamed that Ijin came, and rescued me. When we were out of the place, I realized we had left Kagome behind. When I went to go back, he wouldn't let me. I told him to go back and get her, but he refused.

I woke up before the sun was out and found food had been delivered. I began to pull it over but then stopped. What if it was poisoned? I looked at Aja and smiled, I'd test it for her...she needed food more than I did.

I awoke a while after, gasping. My dream had greatly disturbed me. "Kagome?" I called, making certain she was still there as I struggled into a sitting position.

"I'm here..." I was tasting the food, "It doesn't taste any different...here, you need to eat."

"So do you. Let's split it." I replied with a smile.

"B-But the baby...you need more than me." I slid the plate over, "Besides, there is another here." I touched the other weakly, I felt sick but I couldn't admit it. I started to eat but it was hard to swallow. My head still hurt too.

I frowned. "You're not feeling well are you?" She was my sister, and I wanted to make sure she felt well. Though that may not be a very simple task in this place....

"No, I'm not." I didn't like to lie, "I'll get better so I can take care of you though - it's what Ijin would want. He only ever speaks of you and the baby and how happy he always is...he never frowns like he used to and he...I want him to always have that happiness."

I softened at her words. I was still rather upset at being in this situation. But perhaps though this, I would learn more about her. "Well, don't sacrifice your own happiness for mine. As long as I'm not alone, I'll be happy."

"No never. It makes me happy to take care of everyone...it's why I do medicines." I explained, voice quivering slightly. I pushed my dish away and leaned against the wall.

I scooted over beside her, dragging my plate with me. "Here, lay down on my lap. I promise not to get food on you, and you'll feel much better. I promise." I said with a smile. I was absolutely starving.

I nodded and did as I was told. It seemed like time had no meaning there. Eventually things became routine, we ate, slept and talked. My wounds started to heal as well. I wondered if Ijin was trying to find us. By now, I was sure he'd been searching.
