Random RP for me and Cricket

Already blood had covered his white button down shirt. He wasn't breathing, he had no pulse and his vitals were most likely dropping at that. Someone had apparently run for a doctor as quickly as they could.

The gunman in all the action had managed to escape the hospital somehow.

A doctor came with with a gurney and some equipment.

Kirah had both her hands on his wounds, pressing down firmly... and it seemed to be slowing the bleeding... though not enough. "Robert... Robert please wake up!!" She was now in full panic mode, and her hands, and her clothes were now stained with his blood. "What about that movie Friday night? James Bond, remember? We were gonna go see it!" She was almost sobbing now... she didn't want to lose him like this. Then the doctor with the gurney loaded him up, and rushed him off, leaving Kirah standing there, shaking nervously.

Almost immediately, she was bombarded with questions from the police, and when they were done with her, it was the media, who she tried to escape from, but it wasn't really working.

The doctor had no choice but to do compressions until they knew for sure that the bullet was out of him, the couldn't tell if it had gone through or if it was still in there. No matter how hard he tried however he just couldn't get Robert to breathe.

As a last resort they moved him to the operating room where they were able to safely extract the bullet and use the defibrillator.
"CLEAR!" He called, pressing it against Robert's ribs and watching as his body responded with a sharp jolt. Relief washed over the doctor and the nurses as the monitor beeped with new life, there was a pulse.

Kirah washed her hands, and sat in his office, staring at the background of his computer, which just happened to be a picture of her kissing him on the cheek as he blushed red. One of their friends had taken it a long time ago at a party, before they had started dating. They had been teasing him about something, and she kissed him on the cheek... someone was quick enough to snap a picture. It made her cry... she kept praying she wouldn't lose him, that God wouldn't take him when she still needed him so much.

The doctor finally found her and sighed with relief, "Hey, I've been looking everywhere. I just needed to let you know that he's in critical condition...so he's in the ICU if you want to see him."

Kirah's eyes widened, and she breathed a short-lived sigh of relief. She barreled past the man, and ran through the hospital until she reached the ICU. She then searched every single room until she found his. She pushed the door gently open, and ran to his side. "Robert?" She called softly... all she wanted was to hear his voice again... feel his touch... see his smile once more.

Robert didn't respond, he was hooked up to monitors and tubs of all kinds. A chart was laid neatly at the end of the bed where it stated his current condition, and sadly there was something written down on it that was not good at all.

Coma scale: 6

Kirah hadn't even noticed it until now. She stared at the words on the chart, and couldn't believe it. With a shaky hand, she took his, and placed a gentle kiss on his lips. "They say... that people in a coma can hear you. I don't know if that's true or not, but I guess there's no harm in trying..." She sighed as she placed her other hand on his. "I just want you to know, that what you did today was very brave. I'm really proud of you!" She gulped past a lump in her throat that formed shortly after the tears streamed down her face. "And... I'll wait for you, forever and for always! And... you were my hero today... I'll never forget that." She kissed his hand, and a few teardrops fell on the back of his hand. You were there when I needed you... for that, I am grateful.

"Oops! Sorry for intruding!" A voice came suddenly, a young looking girl stood at the door, she had the same black hair as Robert and those dark eyes. She stepped back nervously with a weary smile, "I'll come back later." She said sheepishly.

Robert still didn't respond, he laid there idle. Deep in his mind he could almost hear Kirah's words.

Kirah turned, and stared at her. "No... it's okay. You can come in." Her words were soft, and full of sadness. She felt so alone now... and she hated the feeling. With every fiber in her being, she hated it.

"Thanks...I'm Robert's sister Cloe. I haven't seen him in so long and I figured...well..." Cloe clasped her hands together nervously as she stepped forward a bit more, her eyes only stayed on the floor.

Kirah stood up, and walked over to her, holding her hand out to the girl. "My name is Kirah, I'm his girlfriend... I didn't know he had a sister. You two really look a lot alike!" Kirah smiled kindly, though it was easy to tell that she wished it had been her instead.

Cloe smiled a little, "Well...we met a few years back because when I was born our mom died and our dad put me up for adoption because he didn't have it in him to raise me the same way Robert was raised. So I asked to meet my real family four years ago and was introduced to Robert...dad had died a few days before I got there. We've stayed in touch ever since." He explained, "But I haven't talked to him in a few months now and when I heard...I had to come." She said.

Kirah nodded solemnly, she forgot that she was covered in blood too. "I feel as though it's a dream... I really have trouble believing this is really happening. Sorry if I seem a little... distant." She went back to Robert's side, and tried not to burst into tears again. She held his hand, and stared at him... he was actually quite cute when he was asleep. She smiled a little, as she remembered that kiss earlier that morning... it felt so... perfect. "He's an amazing man... I just wish this hadn't happened to him."

"No it's fine!" Cloe sat down in a chair that was next to the door, she decided to just be quiet for a little while, it was a very tense moment and she could see why this girl would be so upset...though she felt some sort of anger towards her.

Kirah stayed there for awhile by his side, until her boss came in. "Kirah, we need you back in the computer lab... we're really backed up."

Kirah's mouth dropped open. "Robert's just been shot, and he's in a coma! I can't leave him!"

"You'll have to if you want to keep you job." With that, he walked off. She knew they needed help, but she also hated to leave Robert's side for even a second.

With a sigh, she gave him a kiss. "I'll be back... I promise." She then went to go out. "Please, make sure they take good care of him..." She asked Cloe, "Sometimes the nurses overlook the coma patients..." She seemed so sad, and worn out. She then turned, and left with a weary sigh.

Cloe nodded and went to have her turn next to him then began her little speech. It was said that to get a coma patient's brain functioning again they had to be talked to and that's just what she'd do.

-One Month Later-

Cloe was sitting in the room with Robert who had still been unresponsive. His scale went up to eight but that was it. She and a doctor were waiting for Kirah to arrive since he had something he needed to explain to them.

Kirah finally made it, and walked in the door, slamming it shut before any Press could get through. "I'm here... finally. Sorry." She walked further in the room, and stood by Robert's side. What's going on?

"Robert's coma scale keeps dropping and rising for some reason, we can't seem to figure out why he's becoming less responsive. We're going to watch him closely throughout the next week and if he doesn't become more responsive by the end of this week we're going to have to pull the plug." He said.

Cloe's eyes widened, "YOU CAN'T DO THAT! Give him more time he'll come back! I know he will!" She exclaimed.

Kirah screamed too. "YOU CAN'T MAKE THAT DECISION! Or have you forgotten that closest relatives make the decisions when a patient can't! If Cloe says no, then you can't do it!" Kirah at least knew the law, and that was the law... unless it was changed. So many laws had been changed recently. "Besides.... he'll get through this! You've gotta have a little faith in him!"

"We're going to give him a week, it's not said in stone yet." Then the doctor left without another word.

Cloe began to sob, "This can't be happening!" She cried.

Kirah rushed over to her, and hugged her tight. "I know... I can't believe it either!" Kirah began to cry too, she always thought he'd come back, and now... she'd lost all hope with the doctor's words. She couldn't even imagine him coming back now.

Cloe kept crying, "He's never given up! I can't see him giving up!" She exclaimed and then turned abruptly and shook Robert sharply.

"Wake up! Wake up!" She screamed, "You can't leave us like this!" She cried, leaning down and pressing her face into his chest, her shoulders shook with each sob.

Kirah stood there helplessly, watching her sob. I wish there was something I could do... Tears were streaming down her face though, as she saw that Robert's face held no emotion to the fact that his own sister was crying over him. I wish this hadn't happened.

-Later-

At the end of the week the doctor came to pull the plug despite the fact that Cloe was there. "Who knows, this might jump start him." He pulled it, as soon as he did Robert's vitals started to drop.

Seconds after the doctor left a sharp breath escaped Robert's body.
